VELO -CITY 2017
13 Jun 2017 - 16 Jun 2017
What is Velo-city?
Velo-city was held for the first time in 1980 in Bremen, because Germany played a key role in setting up the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF), the initiator of this international cycling conference.
Ever since, Velo-city has been hosted by cities such as Copenhagen, Brussels, Barcelona, Montreal, Nantes and Taipei. This is the third time that Velo-city will be held in the Netherlands, having previously taken place in Groningen (1987) and Amsterdam (2000). Since then, a completely new generation of cycling planning professionals, designers and policy makers has emerged in the Netherlands, without ever participating in this important conference.
Nowadays, 1,000 to 1,500 visitors participate in Velo-city, all of whom play an important role in the field of cycling.
Velo-city brings together specialists involved in policy, promotion and provision of bicycle facilities and programmes. Engineers, designers, architects, social marketers, academic researchers, environmental activists and representatives from the business world join forces with the government on all levels, ranging from local politicians and policy makers to trainers, in sharing knowledge with a view to effective international collaboration to benefit on a global scale.
Next steps for a national air quality plan
London, United Kingdom

Next steps for a national air quality plan
Thursday, 15th June 2017
THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
Guest of Honour
Catriona Henderson, Deputy Head, Joint Air Quality Unit, Defra and DfT
This seminar will provide opportunity to assess Government’s plans for improving air quality levels.
It comes in the context of Defra expected to publish an updated air quality plan following the High Court ruling that plans were not sufficient, as well as the upcoming guidance due to be issued by NICE around the time of this conference.
Planned sessions look at the priorities for reducing pollution levels with the aim of meeting environmental requirements and improving public health, with discussion on the implementation and funding of new clean air zones across the country, and what policy measures should be pursued to reduce CO2 and NO2 levels in the air.
Further discussion will focus on measures to reduce emissions in the transport sector, and will evaluate the impact that funding awarded by the Government to low emission freight projects is likely to have to changing behaviours in the sector. We also expect delegates to consider the upcoming publication of the BEIS emission reduction plan and possible measures to reduce the impact of the industrial sector on air and the environment in the UK.

12th ITS European Congress
19 Jun 2017 - 22 Jun 2017
The ITS World Congress rotates between Europe, the Asia Pacific region and the Americas, returning to Europe every three years. The ITS European Congress is held in the years when there is not a World Congress taking place in Europe.
The Congresses provide the ideal opportunity for all stakeholders to come together, discuss and make the necessary contacts to move initiatives forward and to develop their business by exhibiting and demonstrating state of the art ITS solutions. The Congresses also showcase the latest ITS achievements from the city and region hosting the Congress, and can help increase awareness of ITS in the Host region itself.
The ITS Congresses (European and World) consist of three main areas; Congress programme (sessions and presentations of the latest developments in ITS), Demonstration (showcases of current ITS technology being developed and deployed throughout the world) and Exhibition (exhibition booths and dedicated sessions/events). Participating in these three areas offers a unique opportunity to show and explain the latest technologies and services, with a slightly different focus for each.
During the Congress, ERTICO Partners also have the opportunity to arrange more focused ancillary events before, during and after the Congress, as well as having access to meeting rooms, lounge areas and hospitality rooms. ERTICO develops specific mobile applications, networking facilities, webinars, videos, interviews and articles on both topics in focus at the Congress but also on the different companies participating. This provides the ERTICO Partners with yet another means to promote their technologies and services.
